We are a community based and supported non-profit organization with 800 acres of diverse habitat, many small ponds and vernal pools, 25 miles of trails, and a range of low-impact sustainable forestry projects both completed and underway. We are dedicated to providing educational and recreational opportunities to the community throughout the year.

    • LUMBER: Need lumber for a project? Ours is FSC Certified, better, lower cost, and supports HVNC. Let us know what you need.
    • TIMBERFRAME: This handsome and very rugged 8x10 timberframe shed was built at our first timberframe workshop. It would make a great shed, greenhouse, playhouse, or whatever.timberframe

  • FORESTRY: Each year we do low impact thinning and pruning on about 15 acres. At this rate we hope to have covered all of Hidden Valley in about 50 years! Forester Barrie has just marked a new 15 acre area where we will be working this winter. The area is just north of the new Log Brow Trail. Come check it out.

Year Round Activities

WALK, SKI & SNOW SHOE

Enjoy a walk, cross-country ski or snow shoe with your group, family, or friends - on your own or with a guide. Hidden Valley Nature Center is located in the Jefferson-Whitefield State Wildlife Sanctuary where no hunting is allowed. Take a crisp morning outing at the Nature Center followed by lunch at the Hilltop Yurt or along the shore of secluded and remote Little Dyer Pond.

Canoe & Fish

Enjoy scenic canoeing and/or fishing on a secluded 100 acre Maine Great Pond - on your own or with a guide. Fish for Smallmouth Bass, White Perch and Pickerel. Canoes are available. Venture into meandering inlets and outlets, paddle along wooded shores, dine on a small island.
